Glangwili Hospital

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Under the adept leadership of Project Manager Marc McManus, the Glangwili Hospital Pathology Department underwent a comprehensive interior refurbishment aimed at revitalizing its clinical workspace to meet contemporary standards of efficiency, safety, and functionality. This ambitious project involved a range of upgrades and installations designed to optimize workflow processes, enhance working conditions for laboratory staff, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to the community

SCOPE OF WORK

  1. Heating and Cooling AC Systems:
Cutting-edge heating and cooling air conditioning systems were installed to regulate temperature levels within the laboratory, creating a controlled environment conducive to the performance of precise diagnostic procedures and the preservation of specimen integrity. These advanced HVAC solutions provided optimal comfort for laboratory personnel while supporting the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic outcomes.
  2. Upgrade to 3-Phase Electrical Power Distribution Systems:
A comprehensive upgrade of the electrical power distribution systems to 3-phase configurations was executed to accommodate the increasing power demands of modern laboratory equipment and instrumentation. This upgrade enhanced the stability, efficiency, and safety of electrical supply within the laboratory, minimizing disruptions and ensuring seamless operation of critical diagnostic processes.
  3. New LED Lighting Scheme:
An innovative LED lighting scheme was implemented throughout the laboratory space to improve visibility, reduce eye strain, and enhance the overall working environment for laboratory personnel. The installation of energy-efficient LED fixtures not only enhanced illumination levels but also contributed to sustainability efforts by reducing energy consumption and operational costs.
  4. Suspended Ceiling and Stud Wall Installations:
The installation of a new suspended ceiling system and stud wall partitions was undertaken to optimize spatial organization, enhance acoustic insulation, and facilitate the integration of essential utilities and services. This enhanced infrastructure promoted a functional and ergonomic workspace, fostering collaboration, productivity, and efficiency among laboratory staff.
  5. Bespoke Laboratory Trespa Benching and Under Counter Storage:
Customdesigned Trespa benching solutions, complemented by strategically positioned under-counter storage units, were installed to provide durable, hygienic work surfaces and efficient storage solutions tailored to the specific requirements of laboratory workflows. These bespoke installations enhanced workflow efficiency, organization, and safety, supporting accurate and timely diagnostic processes.
  6. 30-Minute Fire Doors & Frames:
In compliance with stringent safety standards, all existing doors and frames were replaced with 30-minute fire-rated counterparts, enhancing the laboratory’s fire suppression measures and safeguarding personnel, equipment, and critical assets from potential fire hazards. These upgraded safety features ensured the continued operation of the laboratory in a secure and protected environment.
  7. Laboratory Grade Vinyl Flooring:
Durable laboratory-grade vinyl flooring was installed to withstand the demands of heavy foot traffic, chemical exposure, and routine cleaning protocols inherent in laboratory environments. This resilient flooring solution provided a safe, slip-resistant surface for laboratory personnel
while facilitating easy maintenance and contributing to a hygienic working environment.
  8. Plumbing and Drainage Requirements:
Specialized plumbing and drainage systems were meticulously engineered and installed to meet the unique operational needs of pathology analyzers, ensuring efficient waste management and minimizing the risk of contamination or cross-contamination during
diagnostic processes. These tailored solutions supported the accurate and
reliable analysis of specimens while upholding stringent hygiene standards
  9. HTM Compliant IPS Wash Stations:
: Hygienic Technical Memorandum (HTM) compliant Integrated Plumbing Systems (IPS) wash stations were strategically positioned throughout the laboratory, equipped with advanced hygiene features
to promote infection control and compliance with regulatory standards. These state-of-the-art wash stations facilitated effective hand hygiene practices among laboratory personnel, thereby minimizing the risk of healthcare-associated infections and ensuring the safety of patients and staff alike.
