Under the expert management of Project Manager Marc McManus, SRS completed a comprehensive refurbishment of the Glangwili Hospital Pathology Department. The project revitalised the laboratory to meet modern standards of workflow efficiency, safety, and functionality. Upgrades were designed to enhance staff working conditions, support accurate diagnostics, and ensure full HTM/HBN compliance, delivering a contemporary, high-performance clinical workspace.

SCOPE OF WORK
Heating and Cooling Systems: Advanced HVAC systems were installed to maintain precise environmental control, ensuring specimen integrity and optimal comfort for laboratory personnel.
3-Phase Electrical Power Upgrade: The electrical distribution network was upgraded to 3-phase power to support high-demand laboratory equipment, improving operational stability, efficiency, and safety.
LED Lighting: Energy-efficient LED lighting was introduced, enhancing visibility, reducing eye strain, and lowering energy costs.
Suspended Ceilings & Stud Walls: New ceilings and partition walls improved spatial organisation, acoustic performance, and utility integration, creating an ergonomic and functional workspace.
Bespoke Laboratory Benching: Custom Trespa benching with under-counter storage was installed, providing durable, hygienic surfaces and optimised storage tailored to workflow requirements.
30-Minute Fire Doors & Frames: Fire-rated doors and frames were fitted throughout, enhancing laboratory safety and protecting personnel and critical assets.
Laboratory-Grade Vinyl Flooring: Durable, chemical-resistant, and slip-resistant vinyl flooring was installed to withstand heavy traffic while supporting rigorous cleaning and hygiene standards.
Plumbing & Drainage: Specialist plumbing and drainage systems were engineered to accommodate pathology analyzers, supporting efficient waste management and contamination control.
HTM-Compliant IPS Wash Stations: Integrated Plumbing System wash stations were installed to meet HTM hygiene standards, promoting infection control and staff safety.
OUTCOME
The refurbishment was delivered on time and to budget, providing a modern, HTM-compliant laboratory that maximises workflow efficiency and safety. Staff now benefit from enhanced ergonomics, improved lighting, and bespoke benching that supports accurate, timely diagnostics. Infection control measures, advanced HVAC, and specialist plumbing systems ensure the laboratory operates to the highest safety standards.
